O.C.I.A. (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process by which someone is instructed in the Catholic Faith.

The process usually starts at the end of September or the beginning of October.  Classes are held weekly in the evening to instruct those becoming Catholic--Catechumens and Candidates.  O.C.I.A. offers adults the opportunity to learn more about their journey of faith and for those not baptized, the invitation to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.  Those baptized in other Christian communities are given the chance to learn about our Catholic faith and be received into the full communion of the Catholic faith through O.C.I.A.  It also serves as a manner for Baptized Catholics to complete their sacraments of initiation (Eucharist and/or Confirmation) if they did not do so in the traditional manner growing up.
