Welcome to our church! We're so glad you're here.
Sacred Heart Catholic School was established in 1882 by three sisters from the congregation of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. The school began as a motherhouse, novitiate, and boarding school for girls and a day school for boys and girls. General studies were offered for primary, intermediate, and high school levels as well as music, Latin, Spanish, French, and German. The sisters sold the buildings to Sacred Heart Parish in 1928. In 1948, eight students graduated from the twelfth grade. In 2006, Sacred Heart Catholic School graduated twenty-nine.
Sacred Heart Catholic School is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), which provides competition in academics, music, art, and athletics. Organizations such as student council, National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, band, and boys and girls athletics, provide students with the tools they need to become leaders.
Students attend Mass weekly and on all holy days. Each class has the responsibility of participating in and planning liturgies. All grades have daily religion classes.
In a recent national survey, parents were asked why they chose a Catholic school. The following answers were given:
✟To get an excellent academic education.
✟To learn about God and religion.
✟To be taught how to practice their religious beliefs.
✟To learn what it means to establish proper moral values.
✟To learn Christian values.
✟To be a part of a healthy and safe family-type school community.
